The unsettled weather of the last few days got me thinking about my retreat in Sri Lanka next year, it had nothing to do with the fact it would be gorgeous and hot - wind and rain blowing outside. Not even that it would be totally relaxing - half term and noise levels increasing by the hour. No, honestly I was thinking about the culture and the people and how different life can be from one continent to another.
Sri Lanka with its endless beaches, elephants and tea plantations sound delicious. However, did you know it has 8 Unesco World Heritage Sites and 2000 plus years of culture. There are so many beautiful sites to be seen, from an elephant heading to its perfect watering hole, to the beautiful national parks and colonial fortresses.
It is an easy place to travel around, every train ride is totally scenic and eye opening, or you could go and visit hundreds of elephants gathering in the afternoon, or find the perfect beach or meditate in an ancient temple. Sri Lanka is a spectacular place of rainforests, peaks and ancient ruins.
It is also a place of meditation, yoga and a wonderful slow pace of life…… is it really a year away.....
